The installation of a turbine for a small hydropower plant can be carried out either horizontally or vertically. The water jet flowing from the nozzle strikes the turbine blades tangentially at high speed. The blades are made of two welded parts in the shape of a single or double bucket.
The water flow onto the turbine blades is regulated by a needle inside the nozzle. The needle is moved by servomotors, allowing precise control of the water flow. In front of the nozzle, there is also a jet deflector, whose purpose is to redirect the water jet in the event of a sudden pressure increase caused by needle closure, thereby reducing the load on the blades.
Pelton turbines For hydropower plants, they can reach capacities of up to 250 MW, with an efficiency ranging from 85% to 92%.
